Well, a little late starting a thread with my restoration project. I'm going to have some questions and rely on everyone's expertise here, so I thought I would post. Was hesitant to post because I posted the start of a project here many a year ago, but I ended up selling it and not finishing. I didn't want to post this one and have the embarrassment of that happen again. Almost did little over a year ago due to my health, but I think I am actually to a point I feel safe to post about it because I WILL finish it. Hopefully before I die! :p

I picked the car up June 2021. Started out in the back yard with no shelter. Then managed to get it under one of the Tarp carports. Wind did me in on that, so I broke down and got one of the Versatube carports. Put roll up tarp doors on the ends. Still dirt floor. I eventually closed off the ends. I will be moving this carport eventually, so I didn't want to do concrete floor just yet, so it has a pallet floor with treated plywood painted with kilz primer. been working out pretty well!

Anyway, I finally got the body work done and in color this past weekend! I hate body work, and I am in no way, shape or form good at it, but I got it to a point I'm good with how it turned out.

I want to say thank you to everyone here that has helped me with info in the past, and those that will help me in the coming days! We have some great folks here and a tremendous wealth of knowledge!

Here are some progress pics...

Thanks everyone! There are a few runs and a little peel. Still have to cut and buff it.

Nice job! like the shop set-up!
what do you use to keep the critters from crawling into the pallet floor?
Thanks! Surprisingly I haven't had any problem with it. I'm in Montana, so we don't have a problem with snakes here. We have some rabbits around but I think the crazy cat lady's army accross the street keeps them in check! Most we see in town around here are deer and the occasional moose and bear.

That looks DANG good! The silver paint is just screaming for a set of Cragar S/S wheels and black wall tires.

Thanks! It's actually '71 Ga4 winchester gray. The shop lights don't do it justice. I'm anxious to get it in sunlight to see the color "changes" you can kinda see the different tones with the blueish tint in the engine compartment pic. I did that before I closed in the ends of the shop, so it had some sunlight hitting it a little.

I just scrolled back up and looked, and now I see it. I used to have a Winchester Gray 72 Duster 340 that I wish I'd never let get away. Back then, it was too rough to fix....now it would be a piece of cake. :BangHead: Looking forward to watching it come together now that you have it painted. That was quite an accomplishment!

Love winchester gray! I bet it looked awesome on a duster.
I feel your pain on letting it go. The old project i mentioned above that I let go was a 71 demon. I regret that one more than any that I've let go.

Well, got the main brake lines, fuel line, and p-brake cable put on. In the previous pictures the paint job looked better than it actually was. When zoomed up close the peel looks bad. Did some cut and buffing. 1 fender and a door done. Here are some before and after pics. Reflection of my bike and then zoomed up. The zoomed helmet reflection in door is before cut & buff and then after.

Anyone know where i can find this fuel line clip? It wasn't included in the clip "kit" I bought.

Dirt floor carport. I have one too.

You make me ashamed.

By the way, those wheels are the PERFECT choice! I actually liked the Centerlines too, but the tt's are better.
