a n fittings

I have a 85 Ram restored. Bat, 15 gal fuel cell in bed. The problem is with the 6an 90* fitting on the pickup line. New fitting is tight where the hose slides over male end ( blue nut ). But when I assemble the hose the blue nut is no longer tight, and leaks. Seems like the hose and red nut loosens p the seal on the blue end. What am I doing wrong ?

can we have a pic please. have a hard time picturing what youre saying but i will give it a shot. if the blue nut is a bulkhead fitting thru the tank it has a nut on the inside and a nylon washer on each side of the tank body. I had to take the 10 small bolts loose and pull the fill flange,remove the foam and back up the nut inside while tighteneng the bulkhead fitting. Hope this helps.

Did you wrap the hose end with electrical tape first before you tried to put the fittings on?
