Swapping converters now that I’ve developed a leak at likely the pump seal, refreshing things and will be relocating the case vent just because. Has anyone modified their case (pump) vent, either plugging the existing hole in the pump and relocating it to the top of the the extension housing (as shown in the Carl Munroe book) or located it someplace else? With my top mount short extension housing I will need to locate it elsewhere, possibly just behind the mount (red mark as shown) or I could even run a 90 degree fitting on the pump vent hole and run a line up through the top of the case, as there is a convenient hole in the case already, to a small catch can/breather what have you. Considering that option as I have plenty of clearance with the 9-1/2” converter I’ll be running. Just looking for any options that work, not opinions as to whether I need to do it or not. Anyone?

When I rebuilt my 727 last year, I spoke to Rick at A&A and he recommend a position similar to the one outline in the Griner instructions, so I lust followed the directions in the Griner instructions. Sounded like a vent at the top of the case could result in a few drops of fluid leaking. Plus, that location may have caused interference with the floor pan in my 66 Dart. Full discloure - I've yet to run the transmission since the car is still being built.

Mine had this D-shaped boss that I cut a groove in to drain any fluid that could get trapped, such as this (photo found on Moparts)

One other note - I've "heard" that this location may have fluid thrown at it if you still run a governor assembly.
