hey guys, I'm 20 and my 1969 Barracuda is my first classic car, it is an automatic that I want to convert to a manual. My question is regarding converting a B body/E body a833 to an A body, I am lucky enough to have a father who has been accumulating parts for his whole life mostly for B bodies though. He has a few a833s for B and E bodies he is willing to let me use so I'm wondering what I would need to get to "convert" them I'm assuming I'll need a new tail housing, but I'm not sure what else. Also if anyone has any of the parts I need and my father doesn't already have them, and you are willing to sell them please let me know.

I think all you will need is an A Body output shaft and an extension housing.
Stay away from the OD boxes, they are easy to get parts you can't use!

you need an A body main shaft and tail housing. its going to be a bit expensive but worth it to do it right.

bigblockdart dot com speaks of fitting the A/E unit with a plate and grinding this and that. That will work but its the Ghetto solution.

Nothing involved with the 833 is going to be cheap but so worth it

Check out your local Facebook Marketplace and see if anyone will trade an A body trans for your E body.

Also, doing this swap is no weekend job.

sounds like a very comprehensive list thank you so much, I'll start looking for parts.

Grab yourself a diagram of an A body 4spd set up and start part collecting. Don’t forget the trans tunnel 4spd hump metal.

Once you have everything, you can start the project off on a good foot without delay and probably be up and driving the next day. Minus the metal 4spd hump metal work.

You can install a long tail shaft four speed in an A-body, although you will have to shorten the driveshaft and make an adapter that moves the shifter location forward. Although, I would search for the tail shaft and output shaft from an A-body and do it that way.
