What prep is need to apply sealer to the gel coat finish on AAR fiberglass hood

I hand sanded mine with 220, shot 3 coats of epoxy, wetsanded that with 600, then base and clear. Make sure you give plenty of time for the wax and grease remover to evaporate (I did mine the night before) as the fiberglass "hangs on" to it longer than steel.

Scuff it with red scotch brite, Shoot it with 2K and block it.

This, although I prefer priming over a 180 scratch. The thing will need to be primed and blocked (maybe more than once) if you want it flat.

blocked the gel coat with 220, shot 2 coats of high build 2k, blocked 320 wet, shot dp90 black as a sealer 1 coat, 3 coats of hot rod black. also just painted the hood on my RR, "original 6 pack hood" same steps except started out with weeks of chasing cracks with a die grinder, fiberglass matting, and fiberstrand. blocking, sealing, and chasing more cracks..repeat :violent1:

on all glass 80 DA then 3-4 wet coats of high build 2k primer.
