My memory isn't what it once was but I think the later model ash trays have a small cutaway at right rear to clear a light.

Edit; Coffee kicked memory this morn'.
The 73 model tray hanger w/ light fixture went into my 67 no problem but,,,
I had to recreate the cutaway found in the 73 tray so my 67 tray would close.
