Actor Paul Walker, best known for his role as Brian O'Conner in the popular "Fast & Furious" movies, died after a car accident in Southern California Saturday. He was 40 years old.

A representative for the actor confirmed his death in an e-mail to Fox News Saturday evening.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said that two people were killed in the accident, which took place at approximately 3:30 p.m. local time in Santa Clarita, Calif. A statement on the accident from the department said that deputies found the car engulfed in flames when they arrived at the scene.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim has not been identified.

A statement on the actor's official Facebook page said that Walker was a passenger in the car, and had been at a charity event for his organization, Reach Out Worldwide earlier in the day.

"We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news," the statement read in part. "Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences."

Walker, a Southern California native, began acting at a young age when he appeared in commercials, and his television credits include appearances on "The Young and the Restless" and "Who's The Boss?"

But it was his turns opposite Vin Diesel in "The Fast and the Furious" films that made Walker a movie star. Walker reprised his role as Brian O'Connor in four of the five sequels made of the 2001 hit. According to the Internet Movie Database, Walker was due to appear in "Fast & Furious 7," due out next year. He was also due to appear in the film "Hours," due out December 13.

Universal Pictures, the studio behind the "Fast & Furious" films, released the following statement Saturday evening: "All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the FAST AND FURIOUS films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family."

Walker is survived by his daughter, Meadow.

Fast & Furious won't be the same without him...

He is survived by his daughter Meadow Walker who is now 15 and had moved from Hawaii to California to be closer to her father. You could always tell how proud he was of her. Her mother is Paul's ex-girlfriend Rebecca.

He was passenger, not driving.

That's correct as stated in my first post.

..............Rest in Peace Paul Walker........I thought he was awesome in the F&F.................Kim........

I agree. He was good in most characters he played. Always a cool guy and very approachable. Was not really into the Hollywood limelight.

Agreed. He was a good actor and very approachable. He liked to stay out of the lime light.

He had a main residence in Santa Barbra but, He was private about his personal life. Part of the way he did that was his additional private residence in Huntington Harbor area of Huntington Beach and his private warehouse/Hanger rented at John Wayne airport which housed his private vehicle collection. He could often be seen on pch between Newport and Huntington Beach in his cars. He also surfed the wedge in Newport Beach and also in Huntington Beach as well. He was a cool and down to earth kind of guy and easy to talk to. He often attended car events and went unnoticed as he Kept a low profile.

Per TMZ: Moments before Paul Walker took what would turned out to be a fatal ride -- he posed proudly next to the exotic car that exploded on impact in the deadly accident.

Paul was photographed with the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that belonged to a friend ... while attending a charity event in Santa Clarita, CA and We're told the photos and video were taken about 30 minutes before the accident. Paul had put together the event -- through his Reach Out Worldwide organization -- to support typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines. Paul was the passenger in the Porsche when his friend lost control and slammed into a tree. The car exploded, and the Sheriff's Department says speed was a factor.

So Sad, RIP Paul Walker and his Friend............

Here's a good photo of Paul and Vin with the charger. Nothing like the open engine compartment for a good picture on a car like that.

While it's tragic, this should be used as an example of what not to do on the street with a car to every young person who follows that suck balls movie series. These guys were rich enough to rent an entire race track, yet they chose to drive at high speed on public streets endangering everyone around them. They both got what was coming to them. They did it to themselves. I am glad they didn't do it to anyone else.
