AFR MOPAR 340 HEAD TEST!

-
66hp gain over Steve's ported 1.88 heads ain't bad. Your average decently ported 1.88 tulip valve heads can go in the 240 range. The .300 lift isn't that great.. but by .400 theyre moving a bit of air.
Worth it.

I’d like to see the gains a good set and of properly set up rockers would bring to the table here. Even more so in 1.6 ratio. Using the stock stamped rockers here gives us a good back to back comparison, but I wonder how far past .400 the valves are actually opening.

tti headers are a grand for 20 hp
iam for sure not spending 1000 1500 to redo my tired 68 x heads if you can buy those 2k and remove weight as well
that motor with a progressive 200 shot with factory 340 logs cal tracs 3.91s and a drag radial would suck the paint most everything

What header lost 20 hp to a TYI header?

374 hp @5700 and 409 peak @ 4200 with 1973 iron 340/360 heads. 441 hp @ 6000 & 442 torque at 4500 with AFR heads. DSS flat tops with 9ccs of valve relief, comp XE268H, Eddy air gap, 750 dp, stamped steel rockers.

Makes me feel better about my ported J-heads with 202’s and 160s! I’m not sure that was a fair test for the iron heads, even though I think they did pretty good for the stock valve size. I didn’t catch if they had any porting or if ports and bowls were stock on those heads?
