I installed the usual Autogauge 3 gauge set. Where is the best place to connect the lights for the gauges so they work with the dimmer? Are y'all splicing or something else?

Car is a 71 Dart

Go to mymopar.com and download your car's factory service manual, look at the wiring diagram and find the color of the dash light wire.

On my 67 Dart it is an orange wire that can be found to the left of the steering column and right of the e-brake in the wire loom.

Any orange wire. Look in the fuse panel, the end fuse marked "inst." This stands for "instrument" lamps, and comes FROM the dash dimmer. That circuit is a bit of a trick. The headlight switch has TWO power sources..........

1....Unfused power runs ONLY the headlamps, and there is a breaker in/ on the switch

2....Fused power runs the tail, park, and instrument lamps. That goes through the dimmer on the switch, out on tan, down to the fuse panel to the "inst" fuse. Then distributes to all dimmer controlled lamps on orange wiring

Yes, orange wire is dash light circuit and dimmable. Splice anywhere. Ashtray light or radio light are nearby.
