Yep, Race engine. Prototype I imagine. There were some LA small blocks cast i aluminum as well. For road racing and sprint car.Can someone tell me what this is? I’m interested to know the story behind it.

I agree. Would be a cool pull-a-part hunt for those huh?In a long ago issue of Mopar Muscle, there was a side bar editorial called "Steves Stuff" with Steve Magnante. He had one or two of these of these and also stated a production number of four. These were a prototype of a planned production change in the magnum production engines but was scrapped when development of the Hemi started. I myself feel we gladly could have done without the gen three for a good five or ten years just to have access to factory aluminum blocks.
I wonder where all the tooling went. Probably in some Mopar Area 51 with all the rest of the prototype and decommissioned production equipment!
Shannons engineering had 440 alum. blocks on ebay, but dam , he`s got them priced out of site !
I bought an aluminum Procomp Chevy block. Whish it was a Mopar. Kim

Haven't seen him for a while but he is probably still around. I think his was a prototype block.You said in the other thread a guy has an all aluminum 318 in your town. Is he still around?
