I like to keep an eye open on eBay to see what's available from time to time.

Just saw this listing and though I would take a look. WOW it must have been in a good fire. $350 obo. :rofl:

I might give $25 for it at a swap meet so it could sit on the shelf. I don't see this intake being repaired, or at least to any level I would care for it afterwards.

What say all you guys?

$350. For a molten blob? What is wrong with people?
 

If I could get it for less than $50 I would take it on as a project. Cut the ugly off and throw it in the blast cabinet. Then fab some plates to replace what you cut off and hit it with the spool gun. Throw the parts on the mill to flatten the surfaces and hit the new components with the needle gun to give it an as cast appearance. Would take some time and effort but you should have a serviceable piece at the end of it. Seems like a decent SBM tunnel ram goes for $500+ these days.

Then again, I might be nutz. I am planning on making an STR-12 intake from scratch with plate because the price of the originals has gone bonkers. Just need the time....
 
What are shame. That was the ram of choice for drag racing back in the day. Don't see many of them for sale and it makes me wonder how rare they are. That one the plenum is pretty much toast. The runners look reasonably repairable, but where would you get a another plenum?
 
I'm with gzig5. Band saw the runners off in the middle, mill the flanges and base back to true, and make a sheet metal plenum for the top. But only if you can get it for no more than $35. That heat, though! I'm wondering if that was in a garage with an EV fire...

Honestly you would be amazed at how many eBay auctions have tunnel ram plenums available. You don't see near the bases offered, but tops are surprisingly available.

I've bought two for my M1 Tunnel ram from two different sellers. There are plenty of parts around in garages, basements, hall closets, and yes even under peoples beds. LOL

Damn! I've been thinking about selling my Offenhauser sbm tunnel ram. I have no idea what it's worth, so whenever I see one, I check out the price. When I saw the 350.00, I was somewhat dismayed until I looked at the pictures:rofl:
