Another e-bay misrepresented 440

as you can see no one has placed a bid as they can see the date on the engine is a 78
 
But the part number on the crate says it's a 71. lol
 
What you have here is crate from and including the right part number for a 70-71 440,but a 78 motor in it.Unless the pistons are right of the top of the bore it,s .160-.180 in the hole low compression 8.2:1 motor,mrmopartech
 
If that's a '78 block, then why does it have round coolant holes, as opposed to the figure eight coolant holes? Is it possible that "8" is actually a "3"? Because that casting number sure looks like "3698830-440" which would make it an early...Pre '76 casting.

I enlarged the block picture and it is clearly an 8.
 
Round or figure 8 water jacket holes. It ain't a 70-71 short block with a 78 cast date. I figure what has happened is sometime in the past it probably did have a 70-71 short block in that crate. And then the crate was reused with what you see.
