I am going to install a set of sport mirrors on my duster that originally came with only one mirror. Can someone provide me with a measurement to position the right side mirror?

I did the same thing by taking measurements from the left side and transferring them to the right - then drilling.

Here's another question relating to the topic...
I did the same on my '71 duster as both 70 duster's did, when I installed mine.

Although I replaced the standard mirror on the drivers side with the racing mirror.
The question is are the hole location the same for the standard mirror and the racing mirrors?

I find the racing mirrors seem to be sitting too far back on the doors.

Short of pulling out a tape measure and comparing factory sport to non-sport mirror location I'm gonna take a guess and say the holes are in the same location. Here's my "theory". Chrysler would have been too cheap to tool for two different mirror locations and it just would have been too complicated for differing options. Both wing-window cars and one piece glass cars of the era have matching doors and thus, matching mirror locations. This simplifies production across car lines. (Earlier A's with wing glass appear to have mirrors that mount farther forward). Mounting mirrors farther back on wing-window doors prevents interference with the window and visual obstruction by the window frame. Sedans and hardtops with wings were also around before the two door coupes with one piece windows were born.

Of course, I could be entirely out in left field on this but I do agree that they would appear more aesthetically pleasing if they were mounted farther forward - and that would apply to non-sport mirrors as well.

Let me get this right, so what you are saying is you DON'T know...
To cheap for tooling!
What about the extra hole for the remote mirror, the hood pins, the rear decklid spoiler, the hood scoops...

You're right, I don't know. Didn't say I did. I still stand by my statement that Chrysler was often "cheap" or in other words economical with regards to mass production - and doors are no exception. I think hood pins, rear spoilers, and hood scoops are in a different class of options. Every car had to have doors but not the latter. They were add-ons.

Do non-remote mirror cars not have the hole drilled for it? Have you seen factory sport mirror cars with the mirrors farther forward?

So no one has a factory installed sport mirror car they could take measurements from?

OneOfMany- Thanks, that would be great. My winter project is painting my 74 duster plus adding the sport mirrors and a factory sunroof. The sport mirrors will be the easy part!!!! I have already installed a 340 4spd 8.25"sg, it was a /6 auto 7.25"

Heres pics of drivers and passgr sports on 71 Duster. Although I didn't measure the holes, I measured from the front of the mirror base to the longest point on the door (not the edge). Both sides were the same at 14-9/16".

Thanks Grant that is what I needed. I've see space dusters, feather dusters, but that must be a rare snow duster.
