I have a lightweight "socalled" 1 1/2T (3000lbs) lightweight racing jack which quit while attempting to jack up ONE front wheel on the 2wd-4wd converted Cummins. Frankly, I don't think any one corner of that heavy pig weighs 3K, do you?

Anyway, something "popped" and it quit. Tonight I started to tear it down. It looks like the jack pictured, and I can only read 2 numerals of the model, and they match nothing I see on the HF site. Also posted is a pictorial of what the "hydraulic" unit looks like, and it has no exploded view, and no internal parts listed.

Anyhow it has TWO pump pistons, and one of them was stuck. I got the pumps apart, and am going to sandpaper them with fine paper and clean them up. What I now believe to be the problem is, that it simply popped a safety relief. The pumps have no dirt seals, only hydraulic seals at the bottoms of the pistons, so dirt can conceivably get between the pump pistons and cylinder walls

Here is the question. Even with light loads, this thing is difficult to pump. Obviously the twin pump pistons make this worse. I'm thinking of disabling one of them to try and make pumping easier

Maybe turn a disc of say, 1/8 material to fit under the pump cylinder, which screws in and mates to a copper washer in the bottom. If this will seal, it should in theory do the job.

Yeah I have 2 of those jacks like them a lot. They jack up quick with the dual pistons.

Although it's pretty much a light duty jack, I use my other heavier 2 ton floor jack for jacking up my full size Ford Van.

Here is a number off of mine if it does you any good.

Guess I would lube up all the linkages on the bottom side, and the rollers and make sure it's full of oil.

The only thing is I had to put Real Bolts in at the Handle Pivot cause the originals were coming out.

Other than that has been good, I just don't try to pick up too much weight like a Tractor.

I don't think that number is what I'm looking for, either. When I look it up by description, 3 come up, and there is only one obviously similar:

HF does not seem to feel the need to post model numbers anymore, until you dig into the "dumbed down."

If you click "specs" it says

SKU(s) 64545, 64552, 64832, 64980

but none of those seem to be mine, AKA maybe a discontinued model. My pump assy IS somewhat different looking. On mine the hydraulic unit has two very large projections that poke out through holes in the frame. Not sure if these are just the mounting or some part of the active unit. None of the pdf's listed show that, either.
