I've been riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles since 1984 when I bought my first new motorcycle. Before that it was used and abused Ossa, Yamaha, kawasaki but never a Honda cause you know what they say about them. Lol. Here's a few

I’ve been on two wheels since I was 8 years old, and my last few bikes were Harley’s. I have young children and a new baby on the way so I am sworn off bikes until they all graduate High School. But I guarantee you I’ll be riding away from my youngest daughters graduation!

Best sounding bike ever, the ole iron head sportster. Potatoe...potatoe...potatoe, music to my ears, open pipes in all its glory. Still have it, have not rode for a couple of years, forward controls was best thing I ever did for the ole girl. 1974, 1000cc electric start, right hand shift. Just rolled out of the corner of the shop, may spend the next couple of days cleaning it up and see if the girl still has spark.

Dang forward controls are badass!

Mines a 1995 883 I been wanting to upgrade pistons and heads to get it up to a 1200. But damn it’s too fun to take a apart

Have an 84 FXST with an evo and a kickstart 4 speed I built years ago, (air ride, springer front). Put a TON of miles on it between here and Laughlin, and once to the black hills. Haven’t touched it in at least 8 years. It’s under towels in my garage covered in dust.

If my memory serves me it was 18" or 20" over girder front fork assembly. 66 shovelhead, pan engine cases, ridged wishbone harley frame, kick start only, juice rear drum brake, no frt brake to speak of just a very small drum on the front to appease the authorities . I would get citations for high handlebars, no frt fender, straight pipes and others I can't recall. Was quite the ride. Had to hang on with both hands. Lol

I started riding a minibike at 14. At 15, my best friend let me ride his new 1970 Honda CL-100. I wanted one. I got a 71 CL-100. My parents told me not to ask to ride it on the street. The day I turned 16 and got my license, I came home from school and there sat my Honda with a license plate on it. Two years later, a friend from high school had a 74 CB-750. He let me ride it. I got one for myself. Next was a 76 GL-1000 standard Gold Wing. In 1980, I bought a new Honda CBX inline 6 cylinder. In 93, I bought a new Yamaha GTS 1000 hoping I could take my new girlfriend riding with me. And so I did... one time. I felt like we had a target on us. I was so nervous, I wasn't sure I could get her back home.
I decided to sell it but no one would even come look at it. I saw a motorcycle dealer in Charlotte that dealt with all sorts of bikes. I traded it for a 96 Sportster 1200 Custom. I was sure I could sell it.
I had never been on a Harley and never wanted one. It was a 50 mile ride home and by the time I got home, I was in love. Not for sale.
In 98, I entered the Harley Davidson Chrome Visa Free Ride Sweepstakes. It started as a bike-a-week for a year. I won week 52, a 99 Wide Glide which I thought was the last bike I would have picked. But, once I took off that ugly king & queen seat and put on a Badlander seat with mini back rest, I couldn't have been happier. But I also loved my Sportster. I kept both for a while but I always rode that Wide Glide, so I let the Sportster go. A few months later, my wife found a new house she wanted. But if we get it, I would have to sell my Wide Glide to get all new furnishings. Or we could stay where we were. I didn't want to let a bike stop her from getting this house, so I sold it. One of the big mistakes I made in a string of many. A couple of years later, I went to look at the new HD Deuce. A couple of weeks later, the salesman called me to tell me my new Deuce was in. I did not tell anyone I wanted one, but I thought what the heck. I got it. Now, I had always heard people brag about the softtail bikes. But for some reason, I never clicked with it. My life took another major turn so away it went. I didn't really miss that one.

Pics!

I got my bike, a 79 FXS, in 84 and still have it today. The only parts on it now that were on it back then are the frame, engine, and trans. Everything else was changed to suit me. It's a junkyard special, cobbled together from swap meet parts. I rode it a LOT for about 25 years, but about five years ago some dipshit lady pulled right out from a stop sign and turned left in front of me (I was on a through street). Luckily I was in my car so all I did was total her Prius and bugger up the RF corner of my Explorer. However, I couldn't shake the realization that if I'd been on my bike I would be dead. It's sad, as I really like riding the thing but it's going to find a new owner as I'm having too much fun right now to check out early from some brain-dead cretin causing my demise. And this part of the world is full of horrible drivers who are doing everything while they're driving, except paying attention to their driving.

Here's the only photo I have handy, when I was swapping in new tanks.

Well surprise, I just found a better pic! This is how it's been assembled for the last four decades.

Ive had other Harleys, but this is one that I was especially proud of, "Dragonslayer" a custom 76 shovelhead that I built and painted(not the murals though) myself. Only had her in one show but I took Peoples Choice in it.
Rode her daily until I had to sell her to pay off a vet bill. :(

And H-D gave us roller lifters....needle roller lifters...about 1929.

I ride a little…..

My son and I riding The Dragon for the charity ride. The bride wouldn’t go so my son hopped on and said “let’s do this”!

I was just out on my Dyna yesterday and I also have a Sportster. When I bought the Dyna the guy asked if I had a trade in I said "do I need one?" he said "no" so I kept my Sportster. Its a base model 2005 XLH 883 and its a great example of a Sportster:)

2007 Road King. Its getting some miles on it, but im thinking i will just keep it and fix whatever goes wrong, I really like it. I have plenty of other bikes too, I may have a problem.

Harleys are great sounds like driving an old v8 hot rod...I speed shift mine they can take a beating. Fun fact a TC 88 is almost like having two cylinders of a chevy 350 under ya.
