i FOUND A 1965 DODGE DART 4 DOOR - BUT KIND OF COOL BECAUSE IT HAS A 273 -2 BARREL DUAL EXHAUST IN IT I WAS WONDERING IF THEY MADE A LOT OF 4 DOORS WITH THE 273 WOULD IT HAVE HAD A 8 1/4 REAR POSSIBLY POSI? NOT SURE I CAN PROBABLY PICK IT UP CHEAP THE BODY AND INTERIOR ARE IN GOOD SHAPE I THINK I CAN GET IT FOR $1000.00

They aren't as rare as you might think. I've seen a bunch of them. The rear is more than likely a 7 1/4". The only other rear available in '65 was the 8 3/4" and they went behind the Commando 273. The 8 1/4" didn't become available in A bodies until '73 and in my opinion aren't much of an upgrade over a 7 1/4". On the bright side, the Dart will have the early A V8 center link that you need for a V8 swap in another car. In your shoes, I'd buy the '65 and drive it. It would be a blast.

Just like 64 the only rarer is the 273 wagon & 170. Also figure the 4 doors were neglected family workhorses that were usually driven into the ground and then crushed. The few nice ones now are garaged gradma school teacher owned! Figure in crushing and by sales figures alone it might be a gem! The 4 doors are comming back! Rember you heard it here first!!

Toolmanmike!

Here is the production figures for 1965 Dart 270 with 273 HP w/3 on the tree

270 2 door sedan 4 units
270 2 dr hardtop 61 units
270 4 door sedan 6 units
270 convertible 10 units

This car is extremly rare. As you know the Dart 270 wagon could not get the 273 HP engine.

Which model did you have? And do you have a picture on it!

Where are these production numbers coming from? I've seen Mike number of 18000 V8 Gt's but was under the impression no numbers were kept on what were auto, stick, hardtops, verts, etc....
So is there a production number on how many V8 Auto GT Vert's were made?

I wish I kept it. (That was back in 1970) Thanks for the info.I only took one photo of it back then with a Polaroid Swinger camera. If I ever find the photo I'll have to look up this post and add the photo to it. Thanks again! toolmanmike

Great to see all those early A's PB. Great burnout video! You've worked your tail of on your 66 to get it where it is today. Kudos to you for all your hard work.

Ok you da man with the info!
Can you help me on mine also?
1964 Golden Anniversary Dart 170, 273, 2bbl, auto, 4 door?
1964 Dart 170 v-8 sales were 2200. But of my version?
What say ye? Please advise and thanks!
:read2:

Just keep in mind that the car is a 180 hp 273 and not a commando engine (235 hp) like the owner thinks. She loves the car, but needs to sell it. It is going for less than half of her original price of $2500.

Hopefully your looking while its parked!!!!
