Anybody here know how to fix gas dryers?

Glad you got it all figured out.....if you were still having troubles with it i was going to ask where your dryer was located such as in a basement or something where the temperatures are cooler......I have dealt with furnaces in garages and what not where the temperatures are cooler and giving the same problem.....come on for a very short period and then shut off, then come back on and so on and so on......the problem was the thermal limit switch (the thin metal disc that heats up and pops to drop continuity) it was so cold that the disc was popping in and out erratically and the ambient temperature needed to be raised before the furnace would kick on and maintain a temperature that the limit switch could operate under.

I just figured I would ad this tid bit of info with the cooler months....someone else may run into a problem similar to your down the road and stumble accross the thread.

Happy holidays everyone

As for the venting, it is now illegal in most states to use plastic dryer venting. Newer Dryers put out too much heat and these vents are now considered a fire danger.

Sue has been using a downey, has a ball she fills up and drops in washer when putting cloths in. Takes care of static cling about the same as sheets.

Does it make a difference in the lint build up in the vent pipe? I don't know.

Glad you figured it out

I'll check out the Downey. Thanks

Tracy,

Our dryer was doing the same thing. Take out the lint screen clean it and hold it under the faucet. Ours would not let the water go thru the screen and would puddle because my wife was using cling free smelly things. It was leaving a film on the screen and it would take 2 hours to dry the clothes. I SCRUBBED the crud out of the screens on Both of our dryers until water would flow right thru them. They work great now and my wife uses something else now for the smelly aroma........you know what I mean.........

OOPS!!!!!!! Just read you fixed it. You might want to look at the lint screens anyway.......might work like a supercharger after that!!

I bought a new lint screen cause mine had a little hole in it letting lint through so I should be good now. Thanks for the info though. I have heard of them clogging up like that. Apparently there's something in those bounce sheets not good.
