Trying to find people who have installed and are using 3 bolt Chinese version of pete jackson timing gear set found on ebay. Since no one carries one anymore... Any and what kind of machine work needed? reliability?

I have dealt with China/Tiawan forged and machined products for many years. The theory of the dollar store holds through most of their products. It's cheap and it only costs a buck, so if it breaks it's only a buck. The way they can get their pricing so low is not only the labor. They subcontract to subcontractors that sub it to other subs who then sub it again. When you have a train of middle men, usually the quality is the only thing left to scrimp. For a street car that only has to show it's OK. But for race that $100-$500 that you save won't pay for the rebuild.

Too late for me. I finally decided to take my chances and try CAT gear drive timing set. Initial price was like $80 delivered to my door. That's where the cheap ended... It essentially took 15 hours of machining, fabrication and cam timing to get it inside the timing gear cover which equates to about $980 (at my usual $60/hr rate). Now I ordered the quiet version... which apparently to the chinese means that you can hear it 2 blocks away as apposed to 3. Two of my friends think it sounds awesome but my wife, kids, neighbors and myself who have to hear it daily aren't so sure! I suppose if it were in a strip car with nothing but open headers it'd be perfectly fine.
