Anyone build headers before?

Get a power steering cooler from a late model caravan. I believe late 80-early 2000’s will be similar and the cheap at the salvage yard.

HD/Popo/Taxi packages in the F-M-J bodies came with them.....most probably crushed by now tho'.....

That’s why I recommended the caravan cooler. Probably 15 of them sitting in a yard near you now. Last one I tried to buy the guy at pick n pull just gave it to me free.

Yeah, conversion to modern sources due to attrition is an unfortunate fact of Our hobby,......We used to get parts off newer models because they were superior in some way(still are in some cases), but now it's just necessity,....ultimately, small aftermarket stuff is there to do it, I just like using factory/" appearing stuff instead when possible. Good news?....... lol, yeah, minivans out the waazooo....

I bought an aftermarket cooler and switched to synthetic oil. That helped a little but the symptom persists. Past research revealed a different PS pump (that I think started with an 'S") but I quit looking for one with the needed brackets some time back.

The Saginaw pump. Where is your cooler mounted? Have you tried a heat blanket on the box?

I put the 10" x 12" cooler in front of the radiator, behind the grill.

I had wondered about some sort of metal heat shield between the headers and PS pump, but it looks like metal fabrication to me.. What is a heat blanket made of / look like?

Found some at Summit Racing. I can still feel good about disposing of that 1/4" sheet of asbestos!
