Anyone on here collect these cars?
I've been collecting the Hot Wheels ones for around 2 years now.

Will post pics of some of the ones I've picked up soon.

I have been collecting Hotwheels since I was 4 (19 years) Just recently picked up MOPAR ones though. Had 400+ of them until a combination of angry ex and unemployment hit.

Yes, mostly for my grandsons, but have quite a few for myself. Have you gotten any of the Mopar anniversary editions? They are very cool, but more $.

Some pics. I went to high school with a kid whose basement was completely full and I mean FULL of these things.
They had 10, 20, 30 gallon Rubbermaid tubs full and shelves full!
In his garage was a completely restored 71 RoadRunner w/383 and pistol grip 4spd!

A few more!

The Darrell Alderman one isn't a HotWheels but thought I'd show it anyways. Have had it for quite a few years, lol

I too have WAY too much of this stuff!
Hey, I was in second grade when Hot Wheels came out.
I have a small collection of early redlines.
First year stuff, before they became diluted. Real cars, not trash trucks and stupid fantasy stuff. 1968&9.
Some matchbox and Corgi also.
To me Hot Wheels were the ****! Big tires, Cragars, headers, duals, blown Hemis.
Well 25 years and my own child later, I find myself in Toy'R'Us frequently and always gravitating you know where...
One here, one there, only "real" race and rod type stuff... then I realize "Hey! I have most of this years first edition cars"...
You know what that leads to...Having to buy all the ones I really didn't want, to make a set!
Then Johnny Lightning comes out with "Show Stoppers", all the famous wheelstanders of the '60s & '70s.
Of course I have to buy dupes of everything, ones to "play" with and display, and ones to put away.
Of course then you try to meet the real owners and drivers at events and have them autograph the still carded ones...
Amazing what an unhappy marriage does to us.
Well ,I gave up on that 6years ago and moved out...In that time I've only very selectively bought maybe another 30 or 40 cars.
I have 7 20gallon tubs of "carded" cars, and numerous carrying cases of cars to display, as well as many of the diorama/display type sets with the much higher quality cars.
Really a whole lot of fun when you end up moving 2 or 3 times in 5 or 6 years...
Just remember, it's a slippery slope!
( and really! I'm not "that" bitter... Hey, I still have all my ****!)

I hadn't bought any in over 15 years, but when my son was born earlier this year, I started buying new ones again, mostly "for him" (yeah right). Started out just buying the Mopars. Then once I got quite a few of those, I started buying some of the cool Ford muscle cars. Then I decided I wanted some cars for him to "beat" in races with the Mopars, so I bought a few GM muscle cars. Then I started buying any muscle car and some newer ones too. I have over 100 now, plus a bunch of doubles. I buy every single Dart or 2nd gen Barracuda I see, so I have quite a few '68 Darts LOL

Once my son is old enough to play with them, I'll give them to him as stocking stuffers and such, and let him go to town with them. Most of them will never be worth jack, so he may as well have memories of playing with some cool old muscle cars like the memories I have.

I do, but I am not exclusively Mopar! My collection is all of cars from 1971, and then the occasional really cool oddball! Still in need of a 71 Duster though! I also collect old Vettes of all years as long as they arent gaudy! Actually one of my fav's is a really sweet 72 Gran Torino.

I started this year with hotwheels from Walmart. I now have 35 cars and I am already looking forward to next years models so I can buy them as well. When does the madness end?!?!?!?:violent1:

I prefer the Johnny Lightnings, m'self. I've never seen a '72 Dart through. Plenty of '71 Darts and '72 Demons, but never any that were in close enough "families" that I could make a '72 Dart.

i only have the ones that belong to my 2 year old (i know, great excuse)

when he was first born i had a little contest with the kids in my sundayschool class
for several weeks i gave them verses to memorize and for each verse they knew i put a hotwheels car in a plano tackle box with their name on it
the boxes were mounted on the wall so that the cars would function as bar graphs and whoever knew the most verses at the end got to keep ALL his cars
every one else got to pick thier favorite out of thier bar and my boy got the rest

one of the coolest ones my boy has is a 67 GTX
i liked that one so much i replicated it in a 1/25 scale model
(the wheels are porsche and the graphics i created on the computer and printed on decal paper myself)

I have mostly Johnny Lightning. I have been picking up all the Barracudas and a few others as they catch my eye, since they issued my car in the Muscle Cars USA series back in 2003. It was photographed it at Fall Fling 2002 in Van Nuys. It was all a big surprise... my car was just a daily driver... the JL photo crew was picking out 440 Roadrunners and things from the show field... then one of my buddies told me "hey, there was a guy asking if they could photograph your car", so I went over to talk to them. It turned out they were interested in the unusual color. Then, of course, the model didn't match it at all.

First, the package...

The whole box -- included a full set of the series, including Chevelle, Torino, AMX...

Later, I took one and swapped on Rally wheels from a Duster model to make it look "right" -- they came with chrome mags.

I collect all brands and scales from 1:18 to 1:64 of mopar diecast.......I have aprox. 7000 peices in my collection.

Hot Wheels!! Oh Hell Yes!!

Ugh, I missed a lot of them by not looking for years. Love the '78 truck and the Johnny Lightning cop car :(

Anything special in here? There are probably more if I go digging. When I was a kid I had shoe boxes full of Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Corgi.

At 11:00 I can see an original 1968 Red Baron, had one myself, my kids probably have it somewhere now.
