I have a dead 67 AM radio, and i was thinking of swapping in an AM/FM from a 70s A-body. But it has black plastic buttons, and I'd like to keep the chrome buttons. Can these be swapped?

I'm not talking about the knobs, which can obviously be swapped.

Not sure about that exact year, but they usually just pull off.

Yeh. I believe most are just friction fit. Many times the fingers inside are split to apply some tension against the slot in the button

just pull hard and hope you don't damage / bend something
the steel pins underneath have tapered barbs.....sometimes they come off easy!
i don't think the chrome am will go on the black fm but i'm not sure.

OK, I thought they just pulled out, but when I tried one, it pulled out halfway (like you do when resetting stations), but it it didn't seem to want to come any further -- I thought I was using quite a bit of force. Well, the radio doesn't work -- I suppose I can pull until I break something 8P

They snap on fairly tight. There is a notch underneath where you can place a pry tool. Plastic gets brittle with age so if they break, they're broke. New replacements are out there, year One I think.
