Anyone like roller coasters? Best one?

-
I personally like older roller coasters and am going on a quest to ride all the old nostalgic roller coasters being saved and moved to smaller parks throughout the US.'my favorite right now is the Blue Streak at Cedar Point, the first coaster I ever rode!! I love the clanging, banging feeling of not being restrained nearly well enough, and the thought of maybe flying off the track!!

Not crazy about any of the new extreme thrill rides!!!...too old I guess!! Geof

Not a big fan will ride the wooden style -- but those metal monstrosities are not for me.. I do like watching the shows on the people who really enjoy them!! I think the last time was at Cedar point -- late 90's went to the Mopar Nats. Lawrence

Used to be a huge fan.

My spine is too long for the fixed harness on nearly all metal coasters, so that ruins them for me.

I still like the wooden ones, though.

The Beast at what was formerly King's Island near Cincinnati ROCKS.

Gwazi at Bush Gardens Tampa is very nice as well.

If a little slobber doesn't fly out of your mouth, you're not riding the right ones!

Cedarpoint has some WAY cool coasters, the Dragster is way fun,

I'm old school. I love the good old Great American Scream Machine at Six Flags Over Georgia.

cedar point has some really nice ones its hard to say. I will have to go with Millennium Force until I ride gate keeper I'm sure :D

Blue Streak, Beast at Kings Island, Scream Machine at Atlanta and one I can't remember the name of but it was at POP Pacific Ocean Park in California. The first drop took you out over the ocean and turned hard right. You thought you were going to die right there. They used to hose out the first car between riders for a good reason.

For those familiar with aeronautical terms, the Montu at Bush Gardens does an "immelman" as it's first drop.

Hey 75Sport, that would've been the "Sea Serpent" roller coaster at Pacific Ocean Park.
Look familiar?

the desperado in Primm Nevada, outside Las Vegas. worlds tallest when it was built.
Is that the coaster inside whiskey petes casino? If so that one was fast not in the seat the whole ride. All it had to hold you in was a lap belt that went across my knee caps....

Obviously the "Best Ones" are the ones I haven't riden, because each time i recommend one, some one in the crowd says something like, "... that's nothing you need to ride thus and such. It's so much better". :dontknow:

The Beast was longest, tallest and fastest when it was built.

Still holds up with any that claim one or more of the three.

BG has some good ones YY1. I remember back when they only had the Scorpion and the Python and the line was two hours easy. Now you can walk right up and get on those two.:glasses7:

Growing up in SE PA we would hit Hershey, Great Adventure, and Dorney Park. At the time Hershey had just come out with the Super Dooper Looper and GA had Lightning Loops. The Comet was one of my favs.

I also like the smaller whippy ones like Cheeta Chase here at BG.

A lot of people down here are surprised when I say-
"I'm from Ohio, so I'm spoiled on roller coasters"

When I was a kid we use to go to NY city on vacation. Grand mother lived up there. We went to coney island and steeple chase. The cyclone a old wooden coaster really scary for a kid. I love coasters but can't ride any more due to plates in neck and bad back. We were at seaworld last week and they have one that you lay out on. Looked real cool and wanted to ride but wife said you will ruin vacation if you hurt your neck or back worse than it is. So no coasters for me :wack::wack:

Funny story about Desperado.
About 15 years ago my wife and I were going to Las Vegas for my bowling league's semi-annual sweepstakes event and decided to take my son along. We stopped at "stateline" (Primm, NV) and were walking through Buffalo Bill's Hotel and Casino toward one of their restaurants for lunch. As we passed the entrance to Desperado, I jokingly asked my wife, "Want to ride the roller coaster?"
She just about knocked me off my feet when she said, "Sure".
(She probably thought she was calling my bluff)
So...I buy three tickets and head for the line. While we're standing, and just before we get onboard, she says, "You know, it feels really good to stand up and walk around because my back's been hurting riding in the car for so long."
Great! Now I'm taking my wife on board a roller coaster when her back hurts. This is not going to be a good weekend.
We get in the coaster car and it proceeds to clank it's way up the 209-foot lift hill and, as we get near the top, I find myself looking down at the roof of the hotel! This sucker is big!!!
As we go over the hill, you feel like you're going straight down 'cause the drop is 60-degrees, 235-feet long and you hit around 80 mph at the bottom. But just before you get to the bottom you go through a little opening in a small building that - from the top - looks about the size of the pass-through window at the drive-thru at McDonalds. The next thing I hear is a blood-curdling scream in my ear, and I feel a grip that shuts off the flow of blood in my arm. With the last of her breath after the scream my wife yells in my ear, "I'm going to kill you!"
Needless to say, we all survived the 4G ride which I thought was a lot of fun. As we get off the ride I figure I'm a "dead man walking." But I ask, "How's your back?"
My wife stopped and, after a couple of seconds, says, "Fine."
Now, every time we go to Las Vegas I ask, "How's your back?".
And every time I get the same answer, "It's good. Don't you dare stop at that damn roller coaster!"

Great story ocdart. I am afraid the screws hold the plates would come loose and my head might fall off. I love coasters even though almost fell out of one when I was a kid. My dad grabbed me by the collar and pulled me back in the car. I think it scared him more than me cause I still love them.

Sheikra at Busch Gardens was a good one.
