Back in the 70's, I purchased an Edelbrock dual-quad Model D64 intake manifold fitting a 1964-65 273 I found in the display case of my local Dodge dealer for $50.00 (it was painted the correct 273 red engine color). However, I always ran a Holley 600 CFM double pumper on an Edelbrock Tarantula intake manifold on my bracket car '65 Valiant 4 door/4 speed conversion. Never used the D64. I was wondering if anyone is currently using one, how it is set up, and how it performs? Thank you.

I've never seen a Tarantula for the early bolt pattern? Did yours have the bolt holes modified? Are you asking about using the D64 on the bracket car? If so, i'd leave it on the shelf for now.

It may gain some torque in the 3000/5000 range on a 273, but it would really start to wane upstairs where a small cube bracket engine really needs to shine. Not to mention the cost of the swap with the carbs & linkage.

These days, those intakes are better suited for a street rod or show car, in my opinion. But it is worth some decent $$$ to someone.

If you would be interesting to deal with the intake I would be interested on it.

The manifold I purchased is temporarily out of reach due to a family dispute. At the time I installed the tarantula manifold, I did not realize the intake manifold bolt angle was different on my 273 cylinder heads from the other small blocks. I just used the correct bolts with some washers and was careful not to cross thread anything. Somehow the manifold fit just fine and provided a best E.T. with a 600 CFM Holley DP of 12.72 at 108 MPH. This is a four door with a 4 speed, 4.56 8 3/4 suregrip, and 10" slicks.
