Not an air gap, but I have a Edelbrock Victor 340 intake on mine, which is also a high rise intake. I am running a stock '69 340 air cleaner, hood clearance is close but it fits.

Probably 50% of us are running Air Gaps on at least 1 car. Using a drop base air cleaner allows for plenty of clearance .
Mancini offs one for the 68/69 340/383/440 style . I have one on my Dart with a Victor intake and 1" spacer.

73 Swinger, just a tiny little spot where the air cleaner hits the hood.

Definitely need a drop base, and stock ride height in the front.

I am running an air gap but so far haven't found a drop base that ALSO clears my electric choke on the Edelbrock AVS carb I have ? I REALLY want to run the stock air cleaner but it has to fit right. What drop base are you guys using?? I think the stock air cleaner just looks "right" it just doesn't clear the hood!!!

Mancini sells a drop base for 68/69 HP that clears .
I have one on a AVS-2 in my Barracuda

340, Air Gap and Edelbrock with unsilenced air cleaner. Fits but so close a 1/2” carb spacer may not clear.

I used to run an airgap then went to the Victor 340 and it made me forget the airgap!! It does everything the airgap did but with more top end.

It's a bit tight but can easily be addressed with a drop base or thinner air cleaner. 65'
I have a 69 Barracuda with a 340 and an Air Gap. Hood clearance was very tight, so I went with a drop base air cleaner and a 2" tall filter instead of the standard 3" one. I called K&N, and they said it would easily flow as much (or more) than a 3" paper filter.

Did you ever find a resolution for this?

No one has mentioned this, loosen the three bolts on the motor mounts, both sides and retighten. They are probably already there, but if not, there can be 1/2" vertical movement there.

Did that and got my breather to fit, but, my 360 torker intake is one and an 8th inch shorter then my Air gap intake, going to need a 2 inch drop base on my Holley

The 360 Tourker is one and an 8th inch shorter then the Air Gap intake, i will need a 2 inch drop base to let my Holley and breather fit.

Watching as an electric choke seems to be an issue with a dropped base. I would prefer a stock looking air cleaner, but it looks like the summit drop base air cleaner is a good option.
