After dealing with the ultra sensitive Mopar Electronic ignition system and failing ballast resistors, I am going back to an HEI style. Does anyone know of a reliable aftermarket HEI type offered? Any personal experiences or recomendations?

It delete's the rats nest on the drivers side. You can throw a rock and hit everything you need at the junkyard. Really isn't much to it. Main chip needs an aluminum heatsink.

You didn't explain what HEI you are going back to. Any existing wiring for that? Photos? Always helps to describe something about your car - Mopar, A-body, year, engine?

Many posts, but most show a 4-pin HEI module. 8-pin HEI & coil is simplest, which is what TrailBeast sells, or can pull at any junkyard from 85-95 GM V-8 trucks. If you have a SB, BB, or RB engine, you can buy a new ready-to-run HEI distributor ($45-70 ebay), which is real easy. Many posts.

So the solution to your dilemma was a failed ballast, or wiring? Is it fixed? Or are you throwing in the towel and moving to HEI for simplified install? Just curious
