Auxiliary transmission cooler

I'm about to swap in a shift-kitted 904 with a 2800-stall converter into my '70 Duster and I think I should get a transmission cooler for it, since I'm planning on driving up to the mountains and thrashing it pretty hard. What ones do you guys recommend? I'm looking to spend less if I can and I'm willing to do a little work getting a 'universal' one to fit. Mainly it's the size I'm unsure of.
 
Pretty much the biggest one you can fit in the space available. I know it may sound like overkill but figure this, a real big trans. cooler costs about $100. Just a basic rebuild kit for a torqueflite will cost you more than that and there is a lot of labor/time involved in pulling the trans. and rebuilding it.
 
Trans Cool M7B is the one I have, recommended by rob (crackedback)...not in use yet.

Currently plumbing my trans cooler lines to it...I made a custom bracket out of aluminum flat stock 1x1/4.

OK this is good stuff... How do you have the lines routed? Did you have to make new lines due to the 1/2" fittings? Also would I have to cover up something that big in cold weather so the fluid gets up to proper temp? I plan on using it as a driver in the winter at times (Colorado doesn't use road salt :cheers:)
 
I will be cutting two 1/2" holes side by side next to each other in the radiator support...Then installing a rubber grommet for a 3/8 line to pass through.... I have to bend and flare my own aluminum hard line...


I'm using a mix of aluminum hard line (3/8") and XRP -AN fittings along with their XR-31 nylon braided hose (- 6)...And in order to join the two together you need to use a 37* single flare for the hard line for use with a tube nut and sleeve...

There is a reducer available that goes from 1/2" pipe thread to -6 line.

Again, I'm using pretty expensive equipment for a rather simple setup and -AN stuff isn't really necessary...very costly...lol
