I haven't looked at the constructions yet, (suprise) but what am I looking at to install my new B&M flor shifter? Removal of x-pipe, Drivers side header, How difficult is the install. I got as for as drilling the holes for the base. Some one tell me it's easy please!!!

Not a hard job by any means. The only thing I removed was the driver side exhaust pipe. I needed room to install a trans temp gauge as well.

There is a link to my build thread in my signature below.....you might find some pictures and info on my shifter install helpfull.

I did not have to remove any exhaust or anything.

what I did was fabbed up a mounting plate, drilled and tapped the mounting pattern of the shifter base into the mounting plate. Welded the mounting plate to the trans hump. and then simply bolted the shift to the plate.

then cut a hole in the trans tunnel and curled the sharp edge over.....then split a chunk of rubber vacuum line down the middle and used it at a liner to stuff around the edge of the hole so that when I slid my shifter cable through the hole there would be no sharp edges to cut the sheething on my cable.

then I installed the shifter cable bracket that mounts to a couple of the tranny pan bolts and routed the cable end to the shift lever on the trans and thats about all there was to it.

For what it counts....this was in my 72 duster with a 904 trans and I installed the B&M pro ratchet shifter.

I installed B&M Quick Silver in an F body with headers didn't have to remove anything all parts in the box. Job took about an hour plus adjustments

If all you're doing is installing the shifter you should be good to go. I figured while I was there I'd pop in a trans temp gauge. And I installed a line lock as well.

Thanks guys, I feel a little more encouraged to attack it this weekend. I was thinking a line lock would be nice to. Maybe I'll get one. "-)

They do add to the fun factor. I installed mine the same time as the shifter because I ran the wire for the activation switch up through the same area and mounted it to my shifter. While you're there you might consider the trans temp gauge too. It makes it easier to do all three at once.

See the little red switch on the left side of the shifter handle.

all my rides get that shifter,to be warned tho,you will have a clearance problem with one of your tranny line being in the way of the bracket that bolts to the bottom of the tranny pan some tricky bending is what I had to do,also be sure to route the shifter cable away from headers, exhaust pipes and such. Also be sure your engine has good grounds,if not that cable can become a ground and will get hot and burn out the cable inside. There instructionsssssss are a little vag also. Good luck its easy but not.
