Committed a little bit of blasphemy this past week. I did a floor shifter conversion with factory floor shifter. due to some reasons ill elaborate on i opted not to run the coffin shaped center console. the first issue was, because my bucket seat brackets are from B body i had to flip the passenger and driver seat which now makes the seat sliders stick out into the center area just enough the factory console absolutely will not fit.

Reason 2, I find the factory console to be extremely lackluster, and quite frankly, way too heavy to be as useless as it is with no arm rest, drink holders, or Lockable compartment (at least not the early style one i had)

For these reasons i decided to do my own thing and fab up a "Shifter box" Console which i wrapped in black vinyl and topped with a gear shift indicator chrome bezel from a 69 Mustang....

I think it looks pretty good, im not a professional so i know the shifter console is a bit boxy and the wrap job isn't the greatest, but it will work for now.

overall I like it, Eventually ill revisit the box and maybe try to sculpt something with better curves and lines in fiberglass.

Yes, I agree w/RRR. If anyone is leaning in looking that close at the shifter box, it just means they're making their butt a perfect target for kicking (lol). You know, if you move the rear shifter box wall back a couple of inches, you could add a couple cup holder holes.
:poke:

I would have thought that there would be a way to make the lever functional, from another location, but this looks appropriate...and puts a bit of room, to play with, between the seats.
Nice job!

If you do ever decide to make another version, how about making a din slot for your stereo, between the shifter and the seats?

Not a bad idea. Long term goal is to have my factory radio sent out to add bluetooth and make it fully functional again

I've been thinking about building some kind of console for my D250 since I can't seem to find a tan ramcharger console and any I can find have extra holes from previous owners and other damage , and are way overpriced for what they are

I went to much effort and expense to forfeit a comfy bench with fold down armrest for buckets and the worthless OEM console only to regret it. Here's where I go off on a wild tangent. Bare with me,, A huge tote in our basement contains assorted plumbing fitting, etc... on a shelf above and behind that tote was a spare OEM automatic shifter like yours. While laying on its side barely showing it looked just like a vintage shower head. Every time I would glance that way,, "Why is that up there?" went through my brain. Immediately followed by "Ah chit, that's a shifter." The repetition of this scared my brain. Every time i got in my car I saw a dang shower head sticking out of the floor. I would turn to the wife or whoever was in passenger's seat and exclaim, DON'T TURN THE WATER ON! My explanation got some laughs. Eventually 95% of my passengers would ask questions like, " did you disconnect the garden hose?" Now I need to go out and get a fresh pic of my shifter mod' and come back to this thread. Cheers

Please don't give me an accolade like King Of Blasphemy but this is a BMW shifter kanob. Yeah my jukebox and climate controller traded places too. I do what suits me as you do what suits you. The next owner can undo as they wish. Happy moparing.
