If i get a b&M ratchet shifter will i be able to get my rpms up higher if i manually shift instead of letting the tranny shift on its own.?

Yes and a reverse manual valve body will help it shift even better. Make sure you get one with low band apply:

I have the Quicksilver and it is very nice. Manual Reverse.
