So I bought this system, a Holley 4bbl 950 Commander for 375, but the software doesn't like Whinehored7. Dug out one of my old Thinkpad 600x's (big stuff in their day!!) found enough "stuff" to reload 98, found a few of the drivers, and loaded up the Holley software. The 600x, by the way still has a REAL serial port which is needed for programming these.
Interestingly, I found a page detailing a home made serial cable for the system (which I need) Holley in their infinite backwards thinking, just HAD to use a non--standard connector on the serial pigtail, in order to sell you ANOTHER cable to adapt from that to the serial connector. Why they could not just plop a serial connector right on the box is beyond me
The error message is generated because nothing is connected to the software
