What is everyone buying for good quality batteries these days? I've always bought Interstate but heard they are now made over seas. What do ya say?

A FABO member had his '68 Dart here since late January. The battery was in the car the whole time and when we installed the engine for the first fire last week, it was still at 12.6 volts.
Interstate.

I have good luck with Deka batteries, I use them in all my cars/trucks. I have had the same one in my '73 Power Wagon since 2016. I don't use the truck often and sometimes it will sit for 6 months without being run, and whenever I go to start it up it cranks right over.

Can I ask what the application is? Drag car, weekend warrior, work truck, commuter car, wife's Cherokee?

Oh and for those wondering what reserve capacity is, that's the amount of time a battery takes to drop to 10.5 volts from full charge with a draw of 25 amps while not being charged. @1MeanA is dead right. That's about the best method for choosing a battery.

I've kept spare batteries alive for years by leaving them on an electronic trickle charger. I've got a spare battery for boosting and for my mini winch that pulls my car onto the 4 post lift and one that's going into my Dart this summer. Even a modest battery will last awhile if its kept charged. The longest life battery I've ever had was an Interstate that came in a car I bought in '08. It was old then. I pulled it out in about '12 and abused it for boosting and left it to die a bunch of times. It lasted until a year or two ago.

AC.Delco Gold Batteries also carry a 42 month free replacement (non prorated). Their AGM line is 30 or 36 month I believe.

A Group 65 Battery is too large for a standard battery tray. That is a Ford truck battery. Should be a group 24 battery. Johnson Controls makes most of the very good quality batteries.
You want one that is not made with recycled lead.
Glass mat technology is the way to go right now.
