Does anyone have the OD measurement of the bearing retainer on an A 833 4 speed? Over the weekend when we disassembled the engine & transmission on a friends car, we noticed that after we unbolted the trans that we couldn't get it to separate from the bell housing. We finally took the bell housing & trans off of the engine & had the use a large dead blow hammer to finally get the housing off. My friend mentioned that when he installed the trans after resealing it that it was very hard going back in once the retainer contacted the bell housing. I noticed that the outside of the retainer looked as if it had been pulled into the housing from the marks inside of the housing. He also mentioned that the retainer was an aftermarket piece, so hence my question.
