Can someone confirm if this is a '72 SB bellhousing? I know that it is a SB, it was in my '69 Swinger. Clutch fork a 10 7/8" or 12 1/2"? It had a 10 7/8" fork, diaphragm clutch and the overcenter spring was in, it operated perfectly. I have installed an old Lakewood scattershield with a 12 1/2" clutch fork, same diaphragm clutch, had to remove the overcenter spring, just touch the clutch pedal and the pedal would just slam into the floor. Ever since the switch, the clutch is very hard to push in, I have just lived with it, but I am ready for a change. Something is really off with the Lakewood. I will find it. So about the aluminum bell?

Brewers website shows a 72 bell would have that casting number, see link for information.

As to fork, 12 1/2” is standard for 72 and 69 Abody factory setup, see second link for more information.

The Brewers website has a wealth of information, and they are also great at answering questions if you call them, but I recommend you browse their website first.

Have not looked at Brewers for awhile, sometimes the obvious just goes over my head! Thank you! Will keep looking to see what the issue is with the Lakewood, the pad is large enough that the pivot isn't folding over, but my fork sits low in the hole and I am thinking that the pivot holes were drilled out of position.
Thank you again.

The Galen book says 72-73 A, B, and E Body with a 318 or 340. 10 1/2"

Bell is correct. Originally, it could have been used in an A body, or the B/E body. Those 2 applications use a different fork & pivot. They have to match. You can research what you actually have on my site.
A body uses the 12.5", CF106 fork & FP848 pivot.
B/E body uses the 10.88", CF702 fork & FP680 pivot.

Did you use the same ballstud bracket from the 734 bell on the Lakewood? That bracket is not the same between the two. 734 uses the BSB734, and the steel Lakewood would use the BSB482.

I will look at that, I believe that I bought the fork and pivot from you Dan. I have both ball pivots, will look at that too.
Thank you! Will get back.
