Wonder if anyone has successfully tried to put a chrome bumper back into shape.
Bought the car with multiple dents in it.
But one hit on the front corner has also bent the bumper in and pushed it into the guard.
Can get the guard back into shape, but the bumper will hit because its in too far on that corner.
The end just needs to be bent back outwards (about half an inch to an inch) the rest should be OK
Going to be a daily driver so don't need concourse quality, but would like it roughly back in shape.
Initially tried heating the metal and using a sledge hammer but it was on the ground and moved too much.
Didn't clamp it as I was concerend about scratching it
Was considering putting the bumper between two vehicles with towbars and a padded chain to see if I can stretch it back?
Maybe using something to leverage the end back outwards while under tension ?
Just checking if anyone has successfully found a good process.
Last photo is of the two other ends (without dent) showing the straight lines, and what is should be like.

Hold bumper vertical with end sitting on deck board. Block of wood sitting on top of curled end, multiple drops of sledge on to block (using the sledges weight, not swinging for the fence).

In HS auto shop, we had a tool that kind of looked like that above, but it had an edge that caught the underside of the bumper.

I'd say it was about 5 feet long.

Real easy to get leverage.

That would have fixed the bent down in back issue.

Bent in on side is a scratcher.

Yep, a long pole with a rubber foot on the end. Then a chain with another hook. Adjust chain length and pull on it. Worked miracles on bumpers.

I fixed something similar with a HF standing press and a hydraulic body ram. It wasn't perfect but pretty good for a hack job.

Don't heat it up, it won't do any good until the chrome turns blue, and you don't want that.

Use this tool. It does amazing work. Put the bumper back on the car to hold it in place.
