Big block heads and cams

I grew up with my dad porting these heads in our garage in 1959. I've never run a stock unported iron head in one of our cars, that I can remember, since that time.

The guy down the street was grinding the base circle off his cams on his bench grinder to get more lift and going a little faster each time.

I don't/never did know what stock is/was.

Did the rest of you guys miss out on all this fun childhood stuff?

Bench grinding a cam?

Stock is the car that comes through my door.
Fix (AKA - Read “Modify”) is what I do to them.
Even the brand new Hyundai Excell & Ford Taurus we bought.
Getting more out of a car is something I can’t stop doing.
