Blueprint 408 in '63 Dart?

-
Might be much easier and more practical to sell/trade the car for a later A and swap the 408 into that...

Another question. Will the transmission crossmember from later A bodies fit the '63? The '63 is notched on one side for the exhaust. If I recall there is clearance on both sides of the later crossmembers.

Nope. @cosgig has info on that. I think he can show you how to modify yours for dual exhaust.

RRR already covered it, but yeah you'll need to modify yours.

there's a template on TTI's website to do it. you can print it out even!

Where in Az are you? If you need any early A parts for you project I have a few contacts around the state that have/know of quite a few early A parts cars.

I'm not afraid of a good project.
I would buy the not fully dressed version, I have a 360 in my 65 Dart with aluminum V-Belt pullies and my after market aluminum radiator mounted to front side of the core support just to make room for a slim electric fan, I used Trans-Dapt motor mounts, got lucky and got them for $70.00 on eBay when everybody was out of stock and not available, and it is just my opinion but all that **** on the front in that configuration looks like it belongs in Grandma's SUV :rofl:

Sanderson Short Headers is an option, here are mine

I also did a dual remote oil filters on a water jet cut plate then I powder coated it and mounted it on the front of the passenger side fender well and a modified bracket for alternator clearance of my oil filters.

I agree. The front drive components they offer is total overkill.
Ya my buddy bought a BluePrint 440HP 383 stroker for his 65 Chevy stepside C10 and was looking at the same type and talked him out of it and saved him about $3000.00 and we still had issues with clearance in the front for electric fan

My modified cross member also since it was mentioned and when you set 2 pieces of 2-1/2" exhaust pipe on it they are the same height tho it doesn't look like they would be. It was easier the way we did it then trying to bend the radius in and re-weld like TTI says and there is another piece welded across under the hole on top, so 2 pieces is easier than trying to put the radius in, Tracey

I have a 340 in my 64 dart and everything is a pain in the A$$. I have power steering and a 4 speed with dougs headers. Well to be honest I had Wagons did most of the work and I think he was considering going Chevy after this. just kidding. You should also widen the radiator because you wont be able to cool that engine with the width of the 63 rad. I had to get a different ujoint for the steering, a mini starter, modified clutch linkage. oh and your engine compartment may be too short for anything fancy. The trans tunnel may be too small for a 727, even a 904 is going to be tight. Good Luck.

As much as I love Blueprint Engines, I cannot disagree. The accessory brackets are blingly and even in black they still look too chunky and just take up too much room. Of course, you have the option of not using them. The thing is, they'll almost give you such a good deal that it won't make sense not to use them. lol

Ya they offer that same engine in 3 or 4 different from no intake or anything to the bling queen :rofl:

Ya I went to manual steering kept the shaft just used steel bushings and u-joint (got rid of the headache coupler) , 4HP mini starter even tho I have short Sanderson headers, 10-1/2" clutch conversion linkage and Z-bar from Brewers, Eastwood 3 pass 22" aluminum radiator, and cut my floor and made my own 4 speed hump out of one from a C- Body and a 67 Chevelle for $50.00 refused to pay $200.00 for a tunnel

If you just GOTTA have a V8.......Put an HP 383 in it and do something different besides the cookie cutter small block everybody does. It'll bolt right in with all the right parts and the distributor is up front and you don't have to hack the car up just to get a distributor to fit. Plus, you'll have a big block.

....and I said all that as a HUGE fan of Blueprint Engines.
Very true and and a fun swap. Did exactly that in 1968. Ruined the 225 in 1963 Dart, so went to the wrecking yard and got a 383 w/833. Fit pretty good. Had to fab motor mounts, but that was not too bad. Only big problem was the headers. No room for exhaust manifolds or headers without cutting the fender wells, so had to go through the fender wells with custom headers. Bummer because I wanted to run B/MP, but the fenderwell cutting put the car into B/G, so not competitive. Got an off-the-shelf fiberglass tunnel kit from somewhere. Had to cut a hole in a fender well to access one of the spark plugs. I remember paying only $9.95 for the hydraulic clutch kit, master and slave. Didn't even widen the radiator opening, and the engine ran in the normal temp range. No steering mods needed. Great engine--bulletproof.
