I have a 69 Barracuda convertible, 318/auto drum brake car with 5 on 4 bolt circle, and stock suspension. I am investigating billet adapters to go to 5 on 4.5, for 15x6 or 15x7 wheel choices(AmericanTorq Thrust first choice). Street driven only, no racing.

What backspace and offset should I get to accommodate adapters and avoid any clearance issues? Any other concerns to address?

Thanks!

Be careful of the Chineseum wheel adapters, you will end up chasing a tire and wheel down the street. You might go to one of the wheel purveyors and get a set of after market 15" wheels with the 5x4" bolt circle.

Adaptors are perfectly safe if used correctly and made out of a decent billet aluminum, no cast adaptors. They've been used on race cars, off road rigs, you name it. As long as there's enough metal to support the studs it'll be just fine if you keep everything torqued. It's not magic, it's physics.

The decent adaptors are usually ~1" thick, so, you'll need to add 1" to whatever backspace would normally work.

On that note, what rear axle is in the car? Because 8 3/4's and 7.25's are different widths, and that car could have either one originally.

I would not use on front. Iny experience lugs work loose
