Sold all of mine. Fun sport! Just not enough time to do everything. Lot of months of storage for a couple months of riding, so they went. Miss it though.
Antique snowmobiles are nice. Here in upstate New York there are alot of antique snowmobile shows in the Autumn and winter.
The most prolific snowmobile production was in the late 1960's/early 1970's, when the U.S. had big winters for about ten years straight. During that time, hundreds of snowmobile companies popped up, from manufacturers of tractors, boats, boat motors, bicycles, motorcycles, etc.. Ford even built one prototype snowmobile. Then after the winter snow dwindled away, so did the hundreds of companies. Then, all that were left were the big three, which still survive today (Polaris, Skidoo, Arctic Cat). Over the years, some new companies popped up, but they eventually faded away too...
Last week I bought a super rare 1963 antique snowmobile, from a company that only made four of them. I'm going to lightly restore it and then ship it to a museum so other people can enjoy it.
Just an internet picture.. but I do remember one of these in grandpa's garage... my mom was the oldest by far and would take me up north (Michigan) to see my grandparents and my mom's brother and sisters would take me for rides on there snowmobiles when I was very young... you can say i kinda got it in my blood at an impressionable age....
Only able to take the sleds out once this year..
So many new things going on this year...
It was really cool though I took a friend that visited from florida that had never been to this side of the united states.Let alone out of florida for most of his life... I took him to eastern oregon and blew his mind...
