Not, do you, but are you knowledgeable on the products? I've got a Jennings Gale Force compound and i took it in for a check up and they told me they didn't make parts for em anymore. I aint buying it. They say Bear bought em out and they are not available in the way of parts. I've had it several years and it's like a new one. Whats you folks thoughts on this? Naturally the guy at the shop wants to sell me new one. What do you guys and gals shoot? I think it's pulling 65 lbs.

I have been shooting for about 25 years. Hunting and Competitive (Indoor winter leagues and 3D). I have taken many 800-1000lb bull elk with a bow. Jennings went out of business quite a few years ago and I am pretty sure that they don't make parts any more. It is sad but bow technology moves so fast that bows that are 8-10 years old are obsolete. I am currently shooting two 70 lb Bowtechs (Guardian and Allegance). I love both of them. Small block you should honestly shoot a new bowtech, but then you would have to buy one. You would not believe how quiet, super fast and vibration free they are.

I've got an 88 PSE Strato Flite set-up at 70#...never had a deer run away cause I have an old bow. I will admit my sons newer PSE (2006) pulls alot easier then mine and lets off 65%, but I don't have any problems pulling or holding mine and only go bow hunting a few times a year so its not a big deal to me.
What kind of parts are you in need of Bill?

Dave

I mainly need cables, By the sounds of thing i need to bite the bullet and buy a new one, Bow season opened yesterday. My wheat and turnips are coming up and the feeders are full and the deer rock is being licked slick. I guess i better do something quick. The dealer here sells Mathews bows so guess what he's suggesting. What does anyone else shoot? By the way, I'm a lefty. Surfing in the day i was a goofy foot.

If you know the length of your cables you can order cables. That is no problem. I will try and look up your cable length for you.

I posted a question about the cable length on Archerytalk. I will let you know the length. Do you have a bow press?

Wow, by the sounds of things this bow may not be obsolete. Thanks for tryin guys. I was headed for ebay to see what was on there for sale. No i don't have a bow press but the guys at the shop will put em on for me. I can make an apparatus to get it done if i need to.
Thanks

Sorry Smallblock. No word yet. Are your cables BCY, Fastflite or the older nylon covered cables?

Nylon covered cables. I surfed around on ebay last night and found the same Mission bow for $69 less than the dealer was asking. Didn't see any Bowtech stuff. What's the price of those bows Badart?

Pm sent bud !! DNW OutDoors can fix you up they said

I shoot a Martin Fury. It's five or six years old and is probably obsolete now. It was considered really fast a couple years ago. As others said, bow tech jumps so fast, like electronics. A bow can be obolete in a couple years. A friend actually gave me this one because he couldn't sell it. All I had to do was buy new sights, shafts, and a release. good luck on yours, Joe.

Mike, I'll get it to ya in the next couple of days...somehow, Give me a phone # of the place and i'll call emto find out where they are or let me know if you do. Sounds great that they can get it fixed for me. Thanks Mike.

Badart, Guess what. My cousin hooked me up with a guy thats is a factory shooter for Bowtech and he has left over bows that the factory supplies him with. He shoots right and left hand bows. Bowtech gave him $20000 last year to shoot their bow. He has, i believe, a left hand unit called "Old Glory" and he offered it to me for $200. I sent mine to him to look at and am buying the Bowtech he has. Your thoughts? What shafts do you shoot? In the past i've been shooting XX75's. Should i go to carbon fiber?

SMALLBLOCK, I SHOOT A MATHEWS SWITCHBACK (NOT XT) VERY FORGIVING BOW WITH NO HUGE "HUMP" WHEN IT COMES OVER THE TOP IF YOU WILL MATHEWS BOWS ARE LIKE HARLEYS, THEY MAINTAIN OR INCREASE IN VALUE IN MY OPPINION! AS FAR AS A STAFF SHOOTER FOR BOWTECH SELLING BOWS GIVIEN TO HIM,HE BETTER HOPE THEY DON'T FIND OUT THAT IS A BIG NO NO, I AM FRIENDS WITH A STAFF SHOOTER FOR MATHEWS AND HE WILL LOSE HIS FACTORY BACKING IF HE SELLS THE BOWS HE IS GIVEN! I KNOW WHAT EVERYONE THINKS WHOSE GONNA KNOW, IF THE COMPANY ASKS FOE A BOW BACK AND IT CAN'T BE PRODUCED FOR THEM LOOK OUT!
GOOD LUCK WITH YOU PURCHASE OR REPAIR OF OLD FAITHFUL!

Hey FAN, Good point but this guy owns everything when it comes from the factory guys. He just has to win and does. He's a world class shooter. Thanks for the heads up.

What arrows do you guys shoot? What do you put on the shafts for fletching/viens? Are your shafts aluminum or a composite? I've been shooting Easton XX75's but some have said i would like the carbon shafts. Any ideas? What about your sighting system , for hunting situations? Thanks
Small Block

Badart, I took your advice on the Bowtec and am very pleased. My cousin and his buddy are hunting in Horseshoe Bend, Ark. and so far he has killed 8 deer. 7 with the same arrow and broad head. His buddy has killed 7 himself. The cous shoots a Bowtec and his buddy shoots a Matthews but after shooting my cousins Bowtec he said he'll have one next year. I picked it up last night and now i need to get it set up. All it came with was a rest and a wrist leash. The rest is the kind that comes up as you draw the string and then drops when the string is released. When it breaks over it seems like you could hold it for a week. The question still remains on what shafts do you guys shoot? Fletching or viens?

Great buy smallblock! I sent you a PM. I would save those XX75's for shooting ground hogs. I would definaly go with carbons. I shoot Gold Tip, Carbon Express and Easton. They all make great arrows, but I would just make sure that you get the correct spine for you weight. I also like blazer vanes on my arrows.

Sounds like he threw in a drop away rest which is great. I would go with a .400" or a .340" spine would work. How long is your draw length? If you arrow is over 30" I would go with a .340" spine to help stiffen it up a little. If it is under 30" .400" will work with your draw weight. Most arrow manufacturers put the poundage right on the arrow. Example. 60-75 , 55-70 I believe this is based on a 30" arrow. Let me know if you need anything else.
