Brainstormin' 440 vs 5.9 ...

-
Many Big blocks of this era suffered the same thing. However, I argue that the factory BB heads are as bad as they seem. My friend ran 9.20's @ 150 mph with 906 heads on a 440. I saw a basic street dart ( you might say) with 3.55's go 10.50's on 906 heads. This was so common back in the day at the track. That was back when a fast 340 Duster was running 12.8's with 3.55's and factory cast heads. And really, a 10.50 streetcar today without juice or boost is a serious car on the street!
I think you meant “factory BB heads aren’t as bad as they seem”. I don’t disagree that they CAN make power and lots of guys go fast with them. But In stock form they are pretty bad. The in fact lots of guys call em “small block heads on a big block”.

The exhaust manifolds/headers run hot on these but the engine isn't hard to manage. The big engine compartment will be a big help.

So far it has been more speculative. More speculation than 100 dyno videos for sure.
speculation can be at times more fun than reality. Like guessing what's in the bag is usually more fun than seeing what's in the bag... But in the Spring, we'll take all speculation out of it. And I can't wait!

It's basically a small block Chevy head with a better valve angle, way to undersized (stock) for 440 cubic inch

It's far different than a small block Chevy head. I hate to say it, but the Chevy head has much better chambers. All of them are quench chambers. Even the open chamber Chevy heads. Other than that and how the rockers mount, there are some similarities.

Like I said, it's "basically" a small block Chevy head.
It's a fact, big block Mopar heads are copied sbc
And too small for what they were intended for

Why hate to say it ?
The low testosterone guys in charge of wedge head design were also too dumb to go acquire another head so they could fully copy the sbc garbage. They're both straight up garbage.
I wouldn't be surprised if those old Chrysler low t dudes helped Chevy design the peanut port bbc lmao
