Eric wiengarter just did some testing like that. The dual plane was only better for a little bit.I’d love to see that tested. Regardless of cross sectional area and airspeed the runners are still half the length of a dual plane.

Yes, tunnel ram beat all the others lolNow a tunnel ram!! I’m definitely on board with that. Best of both worlds.
I don't quite understand the last part. High and mighty car and build something?????? Anyways, I will try to get the 440 in and running by opening day at the track. We are super busy, and in the heart of winter, my transmission is about 75 miles away .... but we'll give it a valiant effort for opening day.
Did they test against the old long ram.Yes, tunnel ram beat all the others lol
Yep, rubber hoses and a big box plenum
Yea right up to where the MH440 will float the valves and run out of cylinder head and camshaft.Eric wiengarter just did some testing like that. The dual plane was only better for a little bit.

I was goin along with what you said. Yall would do well to look at this. They talk about how the Torker really surprised them for an old school intake. They make mention of it in part 1 as well. That's exactly why I answered the question as I did.
I have a local friend who made an intake similar to that for his first gen 392 in his 29 model a rat rod. He used heavy duty THICK truck and bus radiator hose. The engine still sucked the hoses shut. lol
How come? It’ll be out of cylinder head, valve spring, and camshaft long before it benefits from a single plane intake.
Got it. My reading comprehension sometimes lacks understanding. Thank my teachers lolI was goin along with what you said. Yall would do well to look at this. They talk about how the Torker really surprised them for an old school intake. They make mention of it in part 1 as well.

No that wasn't in the testDid they test against the old long ram.
I don’t either, and agree for most part but looking at what a stock MH440 is good at, (and what it’s not good at) tells me a good dual plane will be the best manifold for one.Because sometimes (many times) what looks good on the dyno Is slower in the car. Some of that is because the dyno is controlling (at least to some extent) how fast the engine can rpm.
I never bought the power range numbers they give for manifolds. You can look at what rpm they give for a tunnel ram and know it’s wrong..
My communication skills sometimes lack as well.Got it. My reading comprehension sometimes lacks understanding. Thank my teachers lol
If I can find a good used RPM air gap I would try it at the track against the torker.I don’t either, and agree for most part but looking at what a stock MH440 is good at, (and what it’s not good at) tells me a good dual plane will be the best manifold for one.
That is a far more serious big block than a stock mh440 and the results are what I’d expect from an intake test on an engine like that.Hers a test with a 440 that demonstrates the street single planes are better than most of the aftermarket dual plane intakes.
Intake Manifold Engine & RPM Range Test - Induction Extravaganza
Any intake is an air gap with a big block. The Edelbrock RPM is the intake you mean. It would come out on top, I would bet, just as it did in the test I posted. However, it was not anywhere near like they expected. What surprised me was the Torker even did better than the Street Dominator. If I can find a good used RPM air gap I would try it at the track against the torker.
It would be fun to test at the track though, back to backAny intake is an air gap with a big block. The Edelbrock RPM is the intake you mean. I have to come back and correct this. There are a FEW vintage intakes that are NOT air gap intakes in a big block. I think Weiand made one that sealed to the china walls, as well as maybe one or two more.Any intake is an air gap with a big block. The Edelbrock RPM is the intake you mean. This one's replacing the one I'd like to send You...If I can find a good used RPM air gap I would try it at the track against the torker.
That’s pretty neato right there. This one's replacing the one I'd like to send You...

The '73 Satellite I transplanted the 440 into has shockingly poor hood clearance, so......That’s pretty neato right there.
That's cheatin! LOLThis one's replacing the one I'd like to send You...
