Hunting for them is the best part thats where the story begins. What a good deal from the preacher, a blessing. Looks to be in great shape.

Registered and insured went on its first road test. Trans shifted out fine, the carb still needs some tuning. Ill take on a short trip and run it out. I got it up to 60mph in the neighborhood. I can tell it has long legs, probably 2:76 gears or so.

In the process of fixing the problematic 70’-72’ open stove choke on the exhaust manifold for the slant six. The choke had rusted through its mounting flange causing an exhaust leak and the choke was not function properly. I opted to get an electric choke conversion from mikes carburetor and make a block off plate with some high temp gaskets. I’ll report back once installed. I think it’s going to be a well worth upgrade.

Sunday morning shenanigans. The CU1231 electric choke is installed, adjusted and opens electronically. Gave it a fresh air filter, oil change, and a car wash. Taken it to a local church car show next week. Lost the audio on the video in the transfer to YouTube. Sorry.

It’s been awhile with the duster. Took it to the Senioa GA car show had about 650 cars it’s grown every yr. Car got a lot of interest even for purchase and trades. I also spent a small fortune on a new dash pad and vents, I received them today from classic industries. The tariffs must of put these things at a premium. I bit the bullet because it’s probably the worst part of the car at the moment, original one is beyond its life. Could have saved a little bit of money if I went with a black one but the orginal was blue so that what I opted for. Anyway this dash pad is nice and from China but nicely done not a dent in it hopefully it last.

A win for today, got the old crusty dash pad out. No build sheet found taped to glove box, Oh well. The back of the glove box is signed which is cool but I’m going to replace it with a new one it needs it. The new vents I got are not the right color I’ll see what the look like installed, they got to be better than old cracked ones I’m taking out. I’m going to find some rattle can blue to touch up the metal dash before I put the new pad on. I also need to clean up the cluster. I need a head light switch for sure, maybe some other olds and ends.

Duster progress: dash is all back together, painted, replaced the head light switch, Thanks to Rat rod Al for the connector, the original caught some heat at the dimmer green wire connection and melted it. I also installed Crackedbacks headlight relays to help pull some power of the switch and bulk head connector, I much appreciate his craftsmanship. New dash pad is in with new vents that are not cracked. It’s a pain in the *** job, now that I have done 2 of them I think it gets a little easier each time. New lighter and glove box insert. Sonya signed my original glove box it was bad so I tossed it.

Man! What a difference. It looks really good, and you did a nice job. I would have had to forge Miss Sonya's name on the new one....lol. I have a 70 Challenger 340 that has the famous "Rock" signature on the drivers side inner rear wheelhouse. He signed thousands of them, so I will have to figure out how to replicate it when I restore the car.

Yeah I probably would’ve hung on to that glove box and named the car Sonya.
In a way I’m kinda wishing I kept it, at the time I was thinking I would then said no, I hang onto enough **** and pitched it. Oh well there goes history I guess.
