In 1977 the 440 had a compression ratio of 8.2:1. The C.R. was lowered that year in order to meet smog requirements.
Do you think a 440 with a 9.0:1 C.R. would pass smog if it was tuned up well? I think the C.R. increase would make quite a bit more power over stock.
