Removed bumper. Separated internal bumper brace. Remove shock/pistons. Removed nuts from shock/pistons. Drilled holes in the end to drain out the oil. Measured about 1 1/8 inches from the end and cut the end off. There is tension on the spring but not that much. I would do it in a safe place. Cut as much metal off of the internal brace as I felt necessary. Put everything back together. I drilled holes thru the gutted shock/pistons and put a 3/8 by 3 1/2 not thru them to hold them together. I’m 72 years old and I did it in a little over 4 hours with no special tools except a sawzall, impact wrench, ratchet with sockets. Let me know if you need more pics or info.
