Butters "Winter Upgrades". . Starting a Little Early

Don't do what I did with the O2 and make sure the tip of the sensor is not in the exhaust flow. I bought a universal bung from Amazon and it was only 1/2" which put the sensor into the pipe. Burned up two sensors quickly. I needed a 1" bung for my sensor.

You have to be getting anxious to drive this thing.
AEM supplies a bung, so it'll be the one I use.

I don't think I'm really "anxious" to drive it.. I just miss driving it. It'll be a different animal this year, for sure. I think I'm more exited about the 8 speed than anything. Should be a very well rounded driver... that'll make ya pee a little, and that's ok. I just want to be sure that Indiana is done with all this salt, before getting out. We can go weeks with no snow and my truck is still white when it rains. I hit the car wash 3 times last week lol.

Pretty much back together, under the hood. Installed wideband, added V bands to the exhaust, AC vacuumed etc etc. Cranked over before installing plugs/coil packs to finish priming the system.. 80 cranking psi, which was a relief. I kept que whether I put the o ring on the pick up tube lol. I know I did, but doubt crept in.

Fantastic build!! I wish you lived closer! I'd love to see it in person. Where was your "help"??

I'm sure you probably mentioned it somewhere before, but which condenser did you use for your A/C? I think I remember you saying you were using the Classic Auto Air interior box at least (and the firewall ports seem that way), but wasn't sure if you used any of their engine bay side of the kit or not. I know they don't have a modern Hemi setup yet, but you can get them with uncrimped hose at least. Comes with the condenser and drier as well and they are designed to mount together, but I couldn't tell by your radiator support hoses if you went with their condenser/drier or not.

I went with their complete Dart kit.. minus compressor. The hoses come in pieces, aside from some prebent lines that connect to the condenser.. which I didn't use. So you just cut your stuff , clock it, mark it and have it crimped. Or you can buy a decent cheap crimper on Zon.

I had a piece of #6 high side tubing (with ends) left over from something else. Thought it would look better than 2 big honking hoses. Now I just have 1 big honking hose running to the evap. Come on Tim...Where are ya? Say it...say it!

My god we bullshit alot in some of these threads LOL. Post #258 and not done yet And Dions is almost 300!

I'm not sure anyone offers a complete AC system for the G3 swap, too many variables. If they did, it would likely come with hose and loose fittings for you to route however you choose. I honestly think that's the best way. Fittings are relatively cheap and the hose isn't that bad either. I have a local guy that will crimp for $5 a piece. For that price, I just bought a crimper on the jungle website. I'm glad I did because I redid several hoses when I did the G3 swap. I figure it paid for itself by now.

Yeah, I planned to make sure I got loose hoses as I figured I might want to route it around differently. I thought about reaching out to them to see if they'd give me a discount if I offered to be a mule car to build a G3 Hemi kit for, but as you said, there are a lot of different cover and A/C compressor placements over the years. I've had several hoses crimped by the local hydraulic shop at this point between some A/C work and some hydraulics. The weather went from single digits to 80 degrees here in the span of about a week, so A/C is creeping its way up higher on my list of priorities.

300??? And I don't even have the crossmember welded up and welded into the car yet. Just more proof how slow I am.

Just a quick share of a random tool that I bought.. Was on sale and I thought I'd give it whirl. If it was crap, I'd send it back. Gotta say.. I should've bought one of these a long time ago! I do everything with a cut off wheel.. so messy and so many dangers. I have a band saw but have to switch accessories, if I want to stand it up and cut flat.. who has time for that? haha

I pulled it out of it's box (nice little metal case), chucked it into a 18volt Milwaukee and grabbed a piece of 16ga from the pile and went at it. Impressive! It was hard to operate the tool and material at the same time but I was just testing. If the material was clamped down or the tool was held in a vice, it would be pretty easy and accurate to use. Now it does make a little mess with chips but still cleaner that a cutoff wheel.

22 bucks well spent!

I've used pneumatic nibblers in the past, but never owned one. They were pretty impressive and almost fun to "play" with.

No weekend pics...

Worked on a few wiring things. Added diodes to my transmission wiring, due to Sport/Track mode LED indicators getting a backfeed and staying lit up all the time. Just had to solder them inline, between the switch and PCS module. Problem solved and ran the PCS software on a laptop to verify everything was working.

Pulled the intake back off because I forgot to put the foam under it. Caught it when I was initially installing but dismissed it. My brain wasn't willing to let it go haha. Helps a little with heat soak and maybe a little less resonance. 15 minute fix.. no biggie.

Dropped the fuel tank to swap out the 255lph for a 350.. That I thought was near empty. Nope, 8 gallons. Typical gauge in these Darts. Not accurate! Drained the tank while it was out, swapped the pump and back in.

Then I just kinda piddled around, cleaning up etc. Sent my stock tune file to FRP and found some used 2.73s on MP.. 60 bucks shipped. SOLD! So next weekend, I'll drop the 8.8 back out.

The end is in sight!

NICE!! Burnouts soon!!

I read that 8 spd auto has a 4.7 first gear ratio. So with 2.73 rear gears there will be a ton of off the line multiplication and low low highway RPM. No comprises anywhere with that setup. That why overdrive trans in these old cars best ever mod. Gonna be a crazy awesome ride.

Been listening to Talbots pod casts all day.. I typically rock out during long weld sessions, but I'm just kinda burnt out on my normal music. Now I'm all pumped up for Moparty. Ready to give @racerjoe another joy ride through some cones.. Bench seat and all
