Trying out the USCT dbw pedal bracket. In the first 2 pics, it's installed per their install video. Just seems really close to the brake pedal. I can just see myself braking and hitting the gas at the same time. I kinda did that with the stock setup on occasion. The last 2 pics, I flipped the pedal bracket over and moved it to the other side of the firewall bracket.. Seems too far. I've flipped and flopped this thing trying to find a happy medium. I just wanted easy but I think I'm gonna have to mod this thing or start from scratch. Last Pic is my stock location from an old Pic. I thought about sticking a stock pedal in and measuring but then I remembered that I gave my stock pedal to sone dude in Missouri. @JBrian

Also, over the weekend, I did some firewall touch up. Wanted to block off a few not needed existing holes. Plugged and painted. Added just enough runs to look factory . I considered repainting the entire bay again but that's a whole process. It'll be fine.. Just a ratty dart.

Pretty much it for my weekend.. Snow hit Sunday and it was plow plow plow for 2 days.

Yeah ratty Dart with a totally bad *** drive trane in it. That 8 spd auto is gonna be the bees knees cats meow once you get it back together. Quick around town and cruise highway low RPM. Can have cake and eat it too no compromises.

Yeah, it is definitely too far when flipped.. Have you tried just sitting on a bucket or something and trying it? I would think you want it relatively close unless you are going full go-cart and learning to left foot brake haha. Is there any slop if you loosen the mounts? it kind of looks like it is twisted and you may be able to get it in a better position with just rotating it?

"Added just enough runs to look factory" I'm definitely going to keep this as my reason for runs in the future.

It's slotted for side to side. First/second pic is slid all the way right in the slots.. 3rd/4th pic is all the the left in the slots. I played with it for a while (giggity) and it just never looked right. I feel like I want it somewhere between the two.

So much for the easy button...

I like the closer location myself. Even more so if it was a stick car so it is easier to heal and toe, not that I have ever figure out how to do that well.

I would think you want it relatively close unless you are going full go-cart and learning to left foot brake haha.

For as long as I have driven, I have been a 2 foot driver. Even in automatic cars. Just feels more natural to me. Not sure if my Dad taught me that or where I picked it up, but he raced stock cars when he was young so maybe it came from that.

My sister was using both feet when she was learning to drive and the instructor told her she wasn't allowed and had to use her right foot for both gas and brake. She got things confused and drove into the back of the garage because she didn't switch pedals when she was going to stop. Not sure if she went back to the right way or just learned to drive the wrong way after that. :D

When is this thing going back together? I want to see it make some snow angels!
I won't fire it until probably march.ir April. May is a good month to roll out.

I was planning to slap on the headers, motor mounts and get it primed this weekend. And the drop it in and bolt up the transmission. I kinda to the point of it needs things in place before I can move on.

But, I started feeling really bad towards the end of the day and freezing. Something has me down again.. Worse than covid a few weeks ago. So, that may delay me. Buried in sweatshirts and comforter now, waiting for theraflu to kick in.

Was a slower day at work today and I had time to make a new pedal bracket, early in the day, before I started feeling bad. I moved the pedal location to the right with option for 1_1/4 to 2" adjustment beyond the USCT bracket. No pics at the moment. I have the final piece just tacked. Thought about measuring the Rams pedals.. I like the way they feel.

So, I'll be selling the USCT pedal bracket. Maybe I'm just weird...

I wonder if they designed that bracket on a B-Body and just assumed it would be good on an A. Hope you feel better soon. Maybe your immune system was still beat down from the Vid.

Not sure on the bracket.. I'm sure it's fine for somebody.

We had 10 or 12 inches of snow, Sunday /Monday. I was out plowing on the sxs both days. So, that may have not been a great idea.. Since I just got better from being sick. ***** in my chest

The picture of the pedal above looks about right to me. So I don’t think they used a B-Body.

I’d be interested in the bracket, but trying to limit purchases to what I need now rather than what I will need later.

@DionR since you know CAD, I'm sure you could design something up quickly and it will be fairly cheap for send cut send to make for you.

We can work something out... Trade, pay later, whatever

And thanks for the well wishes guys.

That was my plan. But I am slow so sometimes it is nice to just buy something.

If you hadn't already fixed your steering column collars I could have offered at least some of those as a trade. :D

But I am interested in opening negotiations.

I originally just remade half of the assembly, to move it to the right just a little. Then I figured that might as well remake the rest of it. Similar to the USCT design, it does have some adjustability. The 1/2 that the dbw pedal actually mounts to, is just tacked for now.. Might decide to shift sideways or up/down. Who knows until I see it

I didn't really want to make it out of 1/4" material but it's what I had...

Well that’s neat! And King Kong can drive now and he won’t break your pedal.

Between freezing, sweating, throwing up... I made my out to the shop for a test fit. I think I like this alot better. I might want it a little left. Not 100% locked in. I do think I might move it up about a half inch as well.

I need to get on it this weekend! Feels like with Holidays, snow plowing and being hit with Covid twice, it feels like I lost a month or more! Even tho I've piddled with it here and there, it doesn't feel like real progress.

I need to oil prime the engine, add some fittings, mounts, headers, top off AC compressor and drop this thing in. Then I can get the 8hp bolted up and start laying out the wiring... after the AC box is in place. This is where it starts turning into a puzzle. But, with the motor in, it'll all start clicking.

Over the weekend, i spent a few hours on Saturday and Sunday, getting the motor and trans ready and set back down in the car. Went pretty smooth for rhe most part. Saturday was just doing what had to be done to get it ready.. Things I mentioned in Friday. Sunday was just getting everything back in place. It's just kinda in there right now. Still need to get everything wiggled into it's forever home and anchored down.

Once everything is where it needs to be, I can focus on well.. Everything else. Just nuts and bolts.. And wires.

I think it was something like 50 degrees here on Friday... 1 degree this morning. God I hate indiana.

All that's left is everything! Regardless, its always a good feeling to have it in there.

Not much to report from this past weekend.. Did some engine and trans wiggling and pretty much anchored down where I want it. I'm sure that I can't leave well enough alone and will wiggle some more, before I done.

Then I moved onto getting things where they need to be, in the order that they have to go. It's a process. But the AC unit is in place and I began mapping out new locations (minor tweeks) for the ECU, PDC, Trans ecu, wiring etc etc. I decided to relocate the trans ecu to the backside of the PDC panel. Just easier to access, should I ever need to. Ran the park brake release through the firewall in the old speedo cable location. Now I just need to find a nice location for the release lever.. Outta sight but easy access. For those that are curious.. The 8 speeds have a electronic park that cannot be released just by putting it in neutral.. Unless the car is running. The lever will release it from park if the car is dead, so it can be moved.
.
That's about it. Just alot of wiring ahead of me. It looks far worse than it really is.

Yep, that's some wires, lol. And I thought I was dealing with a lot when I redid my harness and included the new stuff from the EFI into the factory harness...
