What landed me in the situation was not doing my due dilligence research on the FB "Builder." Sorry Mr. Detroit for not having extensive knowledge like you say i should have. I am not a mechanic, but an enthusiast and hobbyist. As stated, i only drove the car a short distance and i lost 3rd gear then smoke from the burning clutches was pouring out. The "builder" said it was all my fault and ultimately evaded responsibility by testifying in court that his transmissions that he builds are sold in an "as is" basis with zero warranty. He doesnt tell you this and i ultimately wrongfully trusted him. That said, i was recommended a local tranny guy that i initially was not aware of who informed me 2 things. 1. The bellview return spring was installed incorrectly and 2. A seal was installed incorrectly. The clutches were burned up and the reverse band failed. He completely rebuilt the trans and all is fine. By all means, anyone who desires to buy a trans from him please do not let me stop you! Apparently, i learned i was not the only person who has had issues with this clown. My first red flag was him bad mouthing Cope and A and A of which the latter i had a long conversation with concerning my situation and transmission warranties. That said, i have yet to have anyone say i was the who effeed up and he was 100 in the right. I cant imagine Stan living much longer as he appears to frail and sick anyway. Would i love folks to boycott him? Absolutely. You can't say no harm no foul, because having other people do his work is what landed him in this situation.
My issue with all this is first and foremost... there's two sides to every story. I'm not saying Howard is wrong. I'm not saying Stan is wrong. But... there is very little mechanical/technical info here. The claim, "the transmission went up in smoke" could mean anything. There's at least two separate parties involved with working on this vehicle at the time that it went up in smoke.
So after he got screwed with the transmission build, he "located a local transmission builder" and is having yet another unknown do his work for him.
Again not saying either party is wrong, but there's more to it.
Like i said, buy parts from him if you want to, dont get mad if something happens as i later discovered he had multiple lawsuits filed against him in Pennsylvania which i had to do alot of digging to discover. Their system is horribly outdated. Funny, on a FB thread one inquired about a warranty on an advertised trans on FB. Stan deleted the comment from his thread. If he shows his face at Carlisle will i hesitate to do something? Well see
I will never buy anything from this sheister lunatic again. You are all free to make your purchases accordingly
