My pirate jack disk brake conversion on my 66 barracuda has a damaged dust boot on the caliper. Can I replace the dust boot without removing the caliper from the car and disassembling it?
Dust boot for the mounting bolt or the caliper piston. Very different.
Mounting bolt- easy peasy.
Caliper piston- piston needs to come out. Install the new seal and bellows- apply a little air and pop in the piston that is wet with brake fluid. The air helps blow the seal around the piston so you can slide it in. Again very little air pressure is needed.
