I'm looking for a new cam in my 72 demon .
Ok...it's a 340 with an eddy air gap an eddy 750 I have a set of x heads that have been ported...also have the j heads as a spare no bore work headers and dual exhaust with purple hornets...any suggestions for a good cam

Need more information. What are wanting to do with the car? What trNny (and stall if auto), how big are your tires, what are your rear end gears?

Well tranny is a 727 and putting a 8 3/4 with 3.91 gears and tranny is stock. I'm looking to make it a street/strip

Compression ratio plays a lot in cam choice. 8.5:1 340 will require a diff cam than a 10.2:1 340

Gear ratio?
Intended useage of the car?

And all I'm finding is .904 & .903

that is the diameter of the lifter...both hydraulic and solid lifter are that diameter...

he is asking if the cam uses hydraulic or solid lifter...

solid lifter cams require adjustable rockers...

You probably want comp or voodoo or similar high lift cam, I wouldn't go lower than a 268 cam, and every step from here is gonna cost you bottom end in trade for top end HP plus move the power band further from idle. Wouldn't go higher than 286 cam
