i took my old cam out and the bearings were broke in some spots. which way do they come out , and does the crank have to come out, to put new cam bearings in thanks for any info
 
there is a tool for pulling the cam bearings and no you don't have to pull the crank to replace cam bearings but you should degree it when you put it back in
 
You dont have to... but I would. See the post on cam bearing hole misalignment for reasons why...
 
hi, the crank has to be removed. the reason is, you can't get to the cam bearings or remove them from the block!! they have to come out the bottom where the crank sits! plus, you can't align the oil holes up with the crank in.
any machine shop will install them in a bare block only!! I install cam bearings!
 
You can get them out the front... Same way they go in... It's a PITA and you have to oval them. But it can be done.
 
All but the rear one can be turned sideways and will come up through the drainback holes. Chebbies have the blind cam cavity.
